Whiskey

My head is heavy.

My chest bears the weight of barbells.

Tonight, I wish to be drunk.

Where is the whiskey?

Where are the disco lights?

Let me think no more. No more.

One star burns brighter than the rest, low upon the western horizon.

I lower my head.

Still, I long to be drunk tonight.

Before me lies a lake— deep beyond measure, though its surface rests without a ripple.

Pour the whiskey into my minds.

Let it drown every restless thing within.

Let me spin.

Let me sway.

Let the room blur into circles of light.

Let fireflies settle upon my eyes.

Let the world soften until nothing demands an answer. And let me dance

through the haze, if only for a little while.
